Camiguin officials take oath, unveil plans for inclusive growth

By Recthie T. Paculba

CAMIGUIN (PIA) — Vowing to push forward a development agenda anchored on inclusive growth and responsive governance, newly elected and re-elected officials in Camiguin formally took their oath of office on June 29, during a ceremony officiated by Court of Appeals Associate Justice Nina Antonio-Valenzuela at the Camiguin Convention Center.

Gov. Xavier Jesus Romualdo, Vice Governor Rodin Romualdo, and Representative Jurdin Jesus Romualdo led the provincial officials who took their oath, alongside members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan from both districts. Mayors and municipal officials from Catarman, Guinsiliban, Mambajao, Sagay, and Mahinog were also sworn in.

Gov. Romualdo outlined a clear vision of inclusive service delivery, highlighting his administration’s efforts to directly reach out to underserved communities.

“What we’ve started is bringing government services to the most vulnerable by going barangay to barangay,” he said.

He added that the monthly barangay outreach will continue throughout his term to improve access to social services, especially in geographically isolated areas.

The governor also identified healthcare systems as a focus area, with efforts underway to improve infrastructure and coordination. He cited information technology upgrades, including the use of electronic medical records and digital links between barangay health stations and hospitals, as essential to advancing universal healthcare.

Representative Romualdo outlined ongoing and planned infrastructure initiatives, including the phased construction of a provincial hospital with a cancer center, port expansions, and the development of a new runway and airport terminal.

“Ongoing sad ang atong port diin madunggoan na na pirmi og cruise ship and other infra. Dayon, atong solid waste management gina-address man nato karon kay hadlok ko mapuno na na among basurahan nga kinahanglan atimanon gyud na siya,” the representative said.
