CAGAYAN de Oro City Mayor Rolando “Klarex” Uy is set to meet with traditional taxi operators and drivers to discuss and hear their concerns regarding the planned operation of GSM taxis in the city.
Mayor Klarex made the statement during the flag-raising ceremony at City Hall on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
According to the mayor, he needs to listen to the concerns of traditional taxi operators and drivers so that solutions can be found and he can make a fair decision without favoring either side.
Earlier, a group of traditional taxi drivers and operators in the city expressed their opposition to the planned entry of GSM taxis in Cagayan de Oro, fearing that they could lose their livelihoods.
It was learned that Green GSM Taxi is the first 100% electric taxi service, using modern, quiet, and noise-free VinFast vehicles.
It offers rides with zero tailpipe emissions, including a newly launched high-end, seven-seat premium taxi option. (ALR/CIO)
