SM CDO Malls Join Forces for a Cleaner Lapasan Coastal Road

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY — September 19, 2026 — SM CDO Downtown and SM City CDO Uptown actively participated today in a large-scale coastal cleanup along Lapasan Coastal Road, joining government agencies, community organizations, and volunteers in protecting Cagayan de Oro’s coastline.

The initiative was conducted in partnership with the City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO), with the participation of various government agencies, including the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). The Girl Scouts of the Philippines also took part, bringing young environmental advocates into the collective effort.

The cleanup brought together more than 1,800 participants and collected approximately 8 tons of garbage, highlighting the impact of unified community action in keeping the city’s coastal areas clean and protecting its marine environment.

For SM CDO Downtown and SM City CDO Uptown, the activity reinforces their commitment to environmental stewardship and meaningful community engagement. By working alongside government partners, civic groups, and volunteers, SM CDO Malls continue to support initiatives that encourage responsible waste management and environmental consciousness.

The cleanup at Lapasan Coastal Road is a reminder that protecting our environment is a shared responsibility—and that every helping hand can make a difference in building a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable Cagayan de Oro.
