THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) reported Wednesday that the recently concluded Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Parliamentary Elections (BPE) recorded the highest voter turnout at 84.34 percent.
In a statement, Comelec Chairperson George Garcia said the number of voters who participated in last Monday’s polls was the highest compared to previous elections in the country.
The 84.34 percent represents a total of 2,018,478 people who cast their ballots. The total registered voters in the region is 2,393,202.
The Comelec said the data exceeded its earlier prediction of 80 percent voter turnout.
“We are pleased to announce that the first and historic BARMM Parliamentary Elections on Sept. 14, 2026 achieved a very high voter turnout, exceeding the Comelec’s expectation of 80%,” it said in a social media post.
Garcia attributed this to several factors, including “enhanced voting experience, broader and inclusive voters’ education and greater collaboration with civil society organizations, and more importantly, transparency.”
Meanwhile, the Comelec released the names of winning candidates for the Legislative District Representatives for the Bangsamoro Parliament:
— Basilan: Rima Hassan (1st District), Pai Sali (2nd District), Abrar Hataman (3rd District) and Jay Hataman (4th District).
– Lanao del Sur: Doc Pala Gandamra (1st District), Hamza Gauraki (2nd District), Rauf Adiong (3rd District), Lampa Padi (4th District), Aroma Asum (5th District), Hosni Macapodi (6th District), Rayyan Mindanao (7th District), Arrie Balindimng (8th District) and Rashi Adiong (9th District).
– Maguindanao del Norte: Prince Khalid Tomawis (1st District), Doc Ibrahim Bay (2nd District), Abdulraof Macaque (3rd District), Abdulnasser Abas (4th District) and Cocoy Mastura (5th District)
– Maguindanao del Sur: Tawakal Midtimbang (First District), Sajid Andre Ampatuan (2nd District), Ali Sangki (3rd District), DJ Park Mangudadatu (4th District), Rafsanjani Ali (5th District)
– Tawi-Tawi: Julbert Que (1st District), Hadjimar Matba (2nd District), Tina Matolo (3rd District) and Nur-Mahadil Ahaja (4th District)
– Special Geographic Area: Mansor Ebrahim (1st District) and Elaysa Enabling (2nd District)
– Cotabato City: Sheriff Abas, (1st District), Naguib Sinarimbo (2nd District) and Tomanda Antok (3rd District)
“All winning candidates were proclaimed yesterday. A day after the election,” Garcia said. (PNA)
