TO his delightful surprise, Cagayan de Oro City first district Rep. Lordan Suan was greeted by more than a thousand Lumbia residents during his visit in the barangay February 13.
This was unarguably one of the biggest crowds since Suan started turning over projects by 2023, a year after he assumed office in his first term as congressman.

It came only two weeks after Suan was bombarded with misinformation left and right from political detractors and trolls who took advantage over his stance in the impeachment process.
“Natingala ko kay pati sa national, naabot ang isyu. But better late than never, na-take down na ang mga fake news,” Suan said.

Suan also hit back at his political opponents who vandalized his billboards all over the district. He believes that the people who took down his posters in 2022 are the same ones behind the damages.
Suan is locked in a neck and neck rematch with congressional challenger Carmen barangay chair Rainier Joaquin Uy in the midterm elections this May.

Back in 2022, Suan was a councilor and Uy was the vice mayor of the city. Both had gunned for the congressional post vacated by Uy’s father.
The volume of the crowd Thursday afternoon was also remarkable because Lumbia is ruled by a barangay chairman allied to the Uys.

That is why Suan’s completed project was located inside Lumbia National High School – a DepEd property – because barangay officials refused his project.
“Wala ko nag-expect ani. I am so happy to see you all and most especially with the fruition of this project,” Suan said as students, teachers, parents, veterans, constituents and supporters alike mobbed him for groufies and selfies.
The occasion was the turnover of a sepak takraw court, a volleyball court and a basketball court with 13 solar-run lampposts.
Suan vowed to erect more projects in Lumbia this year as lobbied by him in Congress.
