THE officers of the Philippine Councilors League (PCL) chapter in Misamis Oriental have approved a comprehensive development plan for their colleagues until 2028.
Unlike other organizations, officers of PCL chapters end their term after three years since they serve one whole election cycle to their constituencies.

Thus, Misamis Oriental chapter president and concurrent provincial board member Louie Jarales decided that a three-year development plan would be more apt and sound.
To kick off 2026, there will be a series of capacity trainings to be undertaken for the 262 councilors of this province.
Jarales said these include both neophytes, reelected and ex-officio councilors and would serve as refreshers to the latest rules and regulations governing lawmaking at the local level.
Ex-officio members are representatives from the Liga ng mga Barangay, Sangguniang Kabataan and indigenous peoples mandatory representative in each LGU in the province which is composed of two cities and 24 municipalities.
Meanwhile, 2027 will be focused on sectoral consultations to encourage councilors to be closer to their constituents more, especially dealing with concerns in the respective committees that they are handling.
Jarales then revealed their ambitious plan for 2028 that PCL Misamis Oriental chapter will have its own building.
He said that the city government of El Salvador has already scouted a 1,000 square foot property for the structure to be erected.
For this, the chapter also passed on February 12 a resolution addressed to Deputy Speaker Yevgeny Vincente Emano (Misamis Oriental’s second district congressman) and first district Rep. Karen Lagbas earnestly requesting ways to fund the construction of the building.
The proposed two-storey building will have a covered roofdeck on its uppermost level, office and conference room at the second floor and commercial space for lease at the ground level.
Jarales said that last year, the PCL Misamis Oriental chapter has already approved its own by-laws, pending the way for registration as its own legal entity.
