Klarex reaffirms support for PBBM as pro-Duterte group holds protest in CDO

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Mayor Rolando Uy has called for unity behind the administration of President Marcos amid moves from certain groups to destabilize the government.
“Duly constituted authorities and constitutional processes should be supported and protected by the people, because instability only results in harm to the economy and the consequent suffering of the people,” Uy said.
On the other hand, barangay Carmen chairman Raineir Joaquin Uy warned that the democratic
rights enjoyed by destabilizers of the PBBM administration would be the first to go if the government is not stable.
Mayor Uy said that he and his family have been consistent in their support for the Marcoses. ““Wala pa madawat sa katawhan ang pagbalik sa mga Marcos sa pangagamhanan, kami nagsuporta na kanila. Labaw na karun,” said Uy, referring to the 2016 vice presidential bid of the president and senatorial run in 2010.
Mayor Klarex Uy and KapKik though acknowledged that they respect their supporters who are with the opposition, but just the same, extends for them nit to participate in any moves that would destabilize the government.
“Atong gi-respeto ang panaglahi sa baruganan sa politika, pero kauban kita sa pagpatunhay
sa kalig-on sa atong gobyerno, kay kung lig-on atong gobyerno, lig-on ang masandigan sa atong
katawhan,” Mayor Uy said.
Mayor Uy is the local standard bearer of the President’s party, the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas (PFP).
His son, KapKik, a former vice mayor filed his certificate of candidacy for congressman of the city’s first district under Aksyon Demokratiko.
“Apan wala nagpasabot nga wala ako nagsuporta sa atong presidente ug liderato sa Kongreso,” said KapKik.
He explained further that while he would have preferred a PFP certificate of nomination and acceptance, he respected the party’s rule on the incumbent’s equity.
Meanwhile, Kagay-anons and some people from Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental in Northern Mindanao gathered for a peaceful assembly at Gaston Park December 1 to express their concerns over the current political climate.
The Panagtigom peacd assembly aims to show solidarity with Vice President Sara Duterte and call for unity among the nation’s leaders.
The event began with a walking caravan at 2:00 p.m. from various points across the city, converging at Gaston Park by 4:00 p.m. near the Maternity Hospital and former Avon Building for the main assembly.
This gathering is a peaceful and organized effort to urge the administration of Marcos to focus on serving the Filipino people instead of engaging in political disputes.
Participants highlighted their support for Duterte, who received the highest number of votes in the 2022 national elections, reflecting the trust and confidence of millions of Filipinos.
In recent months, Duterte has faced what many perceive as undue political harassment. Organizers of the assembly emphasize that these issues only create division and distract from the pressing needs of the Filipino people.
“The call is clear: leaders must work together for the good of the nation and avoid actions that harm accountable governance and progress,” they stated.
The Panagtigum peace assembly sends a strong yet peaceful message, urging the government to prioritize governance and public service over political conflicts.
“With unity and cooperation, Filipinos can overcome challenges and work toward a better future,” the organizers continued.
