ORO Chamber’s president is busy these days.
That’s because the 400-strong group of micro, small and medium businesses will be hosting two huge events in the next 12 months.
First, the Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry will celebrate its ruby or 40th year two months from now.
Second, the city will be the host next year of the prestigious Mindanao Business Conference, an annual gathering.
Oro Chamber president Almarco Brito revealed that the group will host a dinner with all the living former presidents of the association.
It will coincide with the release of a coffee table book outlining the history and achievements of the chamber since 1985.
Among the former presidents who are still alive are Aldrico Manus, Arsenio Sebastian III, Roberto Togle, Ruben Vegafria, Engr. Elpidio Paras, Jeffrey Ang, Robertino Pizarro, Dr. Jesus Jardin, Raymundo Talimio Jr. and Avalyn Cahulogan.
The celebration will be timed with the holding of the three-day ORO BEST, a local exhibit of homegrown products and crafts set every last week of that month.
In July 2026, Cagayan de Oro City braces itself holding the yearly Mindanao Business Conference and Oro Chamber is the lead organization of the three-day activity.
MinBizCon will give special emphasis on the partnership and synergy between the business community and government in achieving development goals in Mindanao.
It will also provide the venue for trade and exhibits showcasing the product champions in the region with the hope of generating local and foreign interest in Mindanao.
Embassies, heads of Mission and other trading partners are invited with the intent of sharing best economic development practices during the event.
MinBizCon is also the preferred platform to present the Mindanao Business Policy Agenda, a document covering policy issues on economic development requiring government action and private sector commitments particularly on the field of renewable energy, rural infrastructure and agriculture development.
Momentarily, Oro Chamber is busy preparing for the deployment of its shared service facility which was turned over earlier by the DTI.
The facility – officially called OROBEST Creative and Mindspace Center – is designed to provide MSMEs with access to advanced machinery, equipment, and technical support under a shared system.
Located inside the Oro Chamber headquarters in Pueblo de Oro, it houses the following equipment: large format printer, UV flatbed printer, SLA 3D printer, COâ‚‚ laser cutting and engraving and CNC router and engraver.
Brito said the facility is expected to open next month.
