Cagayan de Oro City – Punong Barangay Julito D. Ogsimer of Barangay Lapasan proudly announces the successful conclusion of an HIV-AIDS Awareness Seminar held today, July 31, 2025, in partnership with Lapasan National High School and the City Health Office. The seminar was attended by 50 carefully selected student participants, with the shared goal of strengthening the community’s efforts in HIV-AIDS prevention, promoting awareness, and dismantling harmful stigma and misinformation.
“This initiative is a vital step in protecting the health and future of our youth,” said Punong Barangay Ogsimer. “By equipping our students with correct knowledge, we empower them to become advocates of truth, compassion, and responsible decision-making in their own homes and communities.”
The seminar featured health experts and educators who discussed crucial topics such as HIV transmission, prevention methods, the importance of early testing, and the need to challenge myths and fake news that continue to fuel fear and discrimination.
The activity is part of the barangay’s broader commitment to support public health campaigns and create a safe, informed, and inclusive environment for all. Students were given the opportunity to actively engage in discussions, ask questions, and participate in awareness activities aimed at building confidence and eliminating stigma around HIV and AIDS.
Punong Barangay Ogsimer extends his gratitude to the City Health Office and the faculty of Lapasan National High School for their partnership and dedication to youth education and health advocacy. He also reaffirmed BLGU Lapasan’s support for future programs that prioritize the well-being of the youth and the entire community.
