GOVERNMENT agencies in Lanao del Norte province organized a unity walk and peace covenant signing with election candidates on Monday to ensure orderly and peaceful elections on May 12.
The event took place in the municipalities of Nunungan, Pantar, and Sultan Naga Dimaporo, participated in by the Army’s 42nd Mechanized Infantry Company and local police units.
Lt. Raymund Macandili, commanding officer of the 42nd Mechanized Infantry Company, joined the peace covenant signing in Pantar, emphasizing the importance of collaboration.
“By working together, we can enhance democracy and foster stability within our community,” Macandili said in a statement.
The Commission on Elections (Comelec) also conducted a candidates’ briefing and forum, outlining election rules and safety procedures to ensure compliance and security.
Police and Army units are coordinating with Comelec to develop comprehensive security plans, safeguarding voters, candidates, and election officials during the polls.
The covenant signing underscores the commitment of local officials, candidates, and security forces to uphold peace and order during the election period. (PNA)
