IN his continuing initiative to reach out to constituents at the grassroots level, former Mayor Oscar Moreno met with laborers of the Cagayan de Oro port April 2 to listen to their concerns and suggestions.
The town hall is part of Moreno’s concept of participatory and inclusive governance covering all sectors and demographics.
“Usually, kami mga politiko maoy moistorya sa inyong atubangan sa among mga plano. But this time, it is you who are the stars. Kami ang maminaw sa inyong mga plano. And we will sort it out together,” Moreno who is making his comeback bid as mayor in the elections next month, said.
In his meeting with the port laborers who are mostly residents in the vicinity, Moreno committed for a relocation project for the “informal settlers” currently living in barangays Macabalan and Puntod.
He also encouraged the port laborers to continually enhance their skills by enrolling in skills development programs.
The former mayor said graduates of these programs will have more chances for better opportunities not just here in the Philippines but even jobs abroad.
Lastly, Moreno once elected will work out a way to include trisikad drivers not just plying Macabalan but in the whole city in sustainable insurance coverage.
