THE overall poverty rate in Misamis Oriental has decreased from 23 to 16 percent based on the recently held community-based monitoring system by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
Provincial administrator John Venice Ladaga announced this November 4 during the weekly flag raising at the capitol.Emerging from a recent provincial monitoring and evaluation committee meeting, Ladaga reported that various discussions regarding the key priority projects and programs of the provincial government.

He said that corollary to the PSA census, the Capitol has likewise finished assessing poor Misamisnon families guided by the multidimensional poverty index.
These cover the sectors of education, health, nutrition, housing, water, sanitation and employment, Ladaga pointed out.
Along this line, Ladaga is calling on Capitol employees to continue doing their role as public servants to the constituency of the province.
“Atong pirmi huna-hunaon nga sa insakto og epektibong pagserbisyo sa katawhan pinaagi sa atong pagbuhat sa atong mga tulumanon isip myembro sa serbisyo sibil, makatabang kita sa atong mga Misamisnons,” he said. “Busa, magpabilin kita nga madasigon ug magtinabangay sa paghatod sa kalamboan sa atong lalawigan, magamay man o madako nga buhat.”
Single digit poverty incidence is part of a broader strategy under Governor Peter Unabia’s PAGLAUM program, which focuses on participatory governance to foster progress and economic development. The initiative is designed to achieve a single-digit poverty rate in Misamis Oriental by 2028.
