CARMEN, Cagayan de Oro City barangay chairman Rainier Joaquin Uy proudly attended the launch of DOST Northern Mindanao’s AMCen last Monday.
AMCen stands for Advanced Manufacturing Center and is the national hub for 3D printing, rapid prototyping, reverse engineering and materials research—bringing cutting edge services to the doorsteps of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), academic institutions and local communities.
Uy lauded this latest initiative of the Department of Science and Technology, saying it can connect with the artificial intelligence (AI) educational efforts of the city government.

Only a week ago, the city government of Cagayan de Oro led the opening of the first public school-based AI laboratory in the country at Dansolihon National High School.
That facility specializes in AI, coding, digital literacy, data annotation and other emerging technological skills for its studentry.

Meanwhile, the DOST facility offers 3D modelling and simulation, 3D printing, materials testing, and technical training—all essential tools to modernize local manufacturing capabilities.

“This is strengthening our commitment to progress and partnership for a more innovative and technologically advanced Northern Mindanao,” Uy said. (DOST 10 PHOTO)
