Comelec identifies 30 election areas of concern in R10

IN preparation for the upcoming 2025 nationaland local elections, the Police Regional Office 10 (PRO10) has simultaneously activated its regional election monitoring action center today, January 9, at Camp Alagar, Cagayan de Oro City alongside 98 election monitoring action centers across Northern Mindanao.

This, as Comelec identified a total of 30 municipalities here as election areas of concern – eight under orange and 22 under yellow.

Orange denotes serious armed threats while yellow denotes election-related incidents or rivalry.

The municipalities under orange are all located in Bukidnon – Malaybalay City, Cabanglasan, Impasug-ong, Kibawe, Kitaotao, Malitbog, Quezon and Talakag.

On the other hand, municipalities and two cities under yellow are Bacolod, Balo-i, Bonifacio, Calamba, Concepcion, Kapatagan, Kolambugan, Magsaysay, Maigo, Matungao, Munai, Nunungan, Ozamiz City, Pantar, Poona Piagapo, Salvador, Sapad, Sapang Dalaga, Tagoloan (Lanao del Norte), Tangcal, Tangub City and Tubod.

The activated centers include 84 municipalities and nine cities in five provinces.

These action centers aim to systematize the monitoring and coordination of troops securing the 2025 national and local elections.

Police regional director Brig. Gen. Jaysen de Guzman emphasized the importance of a proactive and coordinated approach to election monitoring.

“The activation of these action centers highlights our commitment to safequarding the sanctitv of the electoral process. Through our EMACs, PRO10 will maintain real-time monitoring and quick response to any election-related incidents, ensuring a peaceful and orderly conduct of the elections,” de Guzman said.

PRO10 assures the public that all personnel assigned to the action centers are fully equipped and trained to address any contingencies.

These centers will serve as critical hubs for monitoring election security, coordinating with Comelec and responding to reports of irregularities or security threats.

De Guzman further called on the public to actively participate in maintaining peace and order during the elections.

“We urge our communities to cooperate wIth law entorcement and report any suspicious activities. Together, we can ensure that the elections are not only peaceful but also conducted in a free. secure. orderly, honest and credible manner,” he added.
