MALASIQUI, Pangasinan – The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) has seized nearly 300 grams of shabu valued at PHP2 million and 19 kilograms of marijuana valued at PHP2.3 million from January 1 to March 23 this year.
During an interview on Saturday, PDEA Pangasinan provincial director Retchie Camacho disclosed that the most recent operation on Friday led to the apprehension of two suspects from Benguet.
They yielded 12 kilos of marijuana amounting to PHP1.4 million.
The successful operation led to a follow-up in Urdaneta City on the same day, which resulted in the arrest of another two and the seizure of seven kilos of marijuana with market value of PHP840,000.
“They are considered high-value targets because of the quantity of illegal drugs they are transacting,” Camacho said.
On March 7, authorities arrested a 41-year-old tricycle driver in Urdaneta City in a buy-bust. Seized from the suspect were some PHP1.3 million worth of suspected shabu.
“We are again appealing to the barangay officials and the communities to be vigilant against illegal drug activities in their localities. We are glad that most of the operations this year were reported by barangay officials,” Camacho said. (PNA)
