LIEUTENANT General Arthur M Cordura PAF, commanding general of the Philippine Air Force, conducted a command operational visit on November 24, 2025, at Lumbia Air Base, Cagayan de Oro City on the occasion of the 52nd anniversary of the 15th Strike Wing.
Previously based in Cavite, the 15th Strike Wing just transferred at Lumbia Air Base last March – bringing with it two attack squadrons.
Until recently, the 15th Strike Wing is key to providing counter-insurgency air support. With Lumbia Air Base considered a strategic location, it has shifted its stance to external defense of Mindanao and providing 360 degree air cover to the whole archipelago.
During his visit, Cordura delivered a talk totroops, emphasizing the importance of balancing service and family, and reminding airmen and airwomen that strong families strengthen the force. He also lauded the men and women of the 15th Strike Wing, led by its Wing Commander, Brigadier General Joel A Inacay PAF, highlighting their vital role in enhancing the PAF’s operational readiness and airpower capabilities.
Prior to the visit, Cordura attended the Wing’s 52nd founding anniversary, where he recognized outstanding units, personnel, and stakeholders whose exemplary performance, integrity and dedication significantly contributed to the fulfillment of the Wing’s mission. Their service stands as a testament to the Trojan spirit of professionalism and excellence.
The 15th Strike Wing is the PAF’s primary unit for tactical air operations, close air support and limited ground/air-support operations for the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
The Philippine Air Force remains steadfast in strengthening its air defense posture and ensuring that its units across all bases are fully equipped, mission-ready, and responsive to the nation’s call.
