6 countries join paragliding tilt in Talisayan town

TALISAYAN, Misamis Oriental – With the ultimate goal of promoting tourism in this town, as well as in Misamis Oriental, 6 countries join the paragliding contest at Sipaka Heights, Talisayan, this province, reports reaching MDN said yesterday. 

In an interview with Talisayan Mayor Rico  T. Taray, he confirmed to MDN the participation from Brazil, Indonesia, Thailand, France, Vietnam and Korea. Dubbed as “International Paragliding Accuracy Landing Flysite Tour” 17 participants have also confirmed their participation in the contest, the mayor said. 

The paragliding activity started on April 28-29, and the awarding ceremony will be at Badiangon Spring Gingoog City on April 30, 2024. 

 “Welcome to Talisayan paragliders! Are you excited?,” was the mayor’s welcoming message to the 12 local and 5 international participants. 

Randel Raymundo, Chief Judge of the paragliding event said the activity is dependent on the wind. “Ang sports kasi ng paragliding is weather dependent. 

Meron tayong tinitingnan na ideal flyable condition. We are focusing a specific wind speed below 21 kilometers per hour,” Raymundo explained. 

Meanwhile, Governor Peter M. Unabia thanked all the participants of the event, adding that all these boils down to tourism promotion which also aimed to increase economic activities of the locals. Misamis Oriental 1st District Representative Christian S. Unabia also gave support to the local tourism sector. 

Unabia claimed the locals will have the opportunity to sell items and earn a living if a tourism event is being promoted in their municipalities.
