NEARLY 5,000 city scholar applicants took their qualifying exams as the City Education and Development Office (CEDO) kicked off the testing period on Monday, April 20, at Liceo de Cagayan University Main Campus, this city.
The examination for the scholarship application process was administered by the Center for Educational Measurement (CEM), Inc. of Manila.

This marks the sixth consecutive year that the CEM has partnered with Cagayan de Oro (LGU-CDO) Hall to ensure a standardized and unbiased selection process.
Passing the qualifying exam is one of the primary requirements for acceptance to the city’s scholarship program.

Currently, Cagayan de Oro City Hall maintains a network of partner schools, including:
- Liceo de Cagayan University
- Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan
- University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP)
- Capitol University
- PHINMA – Cagayan de Oro College (PHINMA-COC)
- Lourdes College
- City College of Cagayan de Oro
- Pilgrim Christian College
- Southern Philippine College (SPC)
- STI College, Golden Heritage Polytechnic College
- Vineyard International Polytechnic College
- Informatics Computer Institute
The exam for the city scholar applicants based in urban barangays will run until April 24.
A special schedule for the city scholar applicants living in the hinterland barangays will be held on April 25 at Lumbia National High School. (NLB/CIO/photos by Johnel Neri/CIO)
