MISAMIS Oriental assistant to the governor Celso Abocejo exposed on Monday that millions of pesos of revenues from businesses renting at the capitol premises were not declared by the past administration.
Abocejo made the claim during the weekly flag raising at the seat of the provincial government that day.
Abocejo failed to mention the specific amount, the duration, the number of stalls and the businesses involved.
The provincial government leases out space at the capitol compound and at Pelaez Sports Center, both located in Cagayan de Oro City.
But in a separate statement, the camp of former Gov. Peter Unabia denied all the allegations.
In 2023, PEDIPO was established to strengthen our economic foundation and create more opportunities for Misamisnons.
“We established the Provincial Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office (PEDIPO) to manage and maximize the province’s income-generating assets,” the statement dated July 21 read.
PEDIPO oversees sports facilities, rentable spaces, and investment projects, ensuring efficient operations and sustainable revenue growth.
It also drives public-private partnerships and strategic investments that create jobs and expand economic opportunities.
The establishment of PEDIPO marks a significant step toward a self-sustaining, investment-driven, and economically resilient Misamis Oriental. Anchored on the Paglaum development agenda, it plays a vital role in achieving a single-digit poverty incidence by mobilizing resources and reinvesting revenues into high-impact programs that foster inclusive growth and long-term prosperity.
