Turkish-Filipino Friendship and Solidarity Association celebrates Eid Al-Adha with meaningful acts in Mindanao

Cagayan De Oro City, Philippines – June 17, 2024 – The Turkish-Filipino Friendship and Solidarity Assoc. (TUFIFSA), in collaboration with Turkish NGOs, marked the joyous occasion of Eid al-Adha by carrying out a noble initiative in various parts of Mindanao, including Cagayan De Oro City. A total of 760 cows were sacrificed as part of the traditional Qurbani ritual, symbolizing Prophet Ibrahim’s unwavering devotion and willingness to sacrifice.

Dr. Mehmet R. Derindag, the esteemed President of TUFIFSA and Philippine Representative for MUSIAD (Independent Businessman and Industrialist Chamber Of Commerce), emphasized the significance of Eid al-Adha in honoring Prophet Ibrahim’s legacy. The act of Qurbani, or animal sacrifice, during this sacred festival serves as a powerful reminder of selflessness and compassion. The meat from the sacrificed animals will be shared with families, friends, and those less fortunate, underscoring the importance of spreading blessings and demonstrating kindness.

For over a decade, TUFIFSA has been actively participating in the celebration of Eid al-Adha in the Philippines, reaching approximately one hundred thousand families each year. Dr. Derindag expressed the organization’s unwavering commitment to fostering understanding, love, and care between Turkiye and Mindanao. Through initiatives like this, TUFIFSA aims to strengthen the bonds of friendship and solidarity between the Turkish and Filipino communities.

As TUFIFSA continues to build bridges of compassion and goodwill, they invite everyone to join hands in promoting harmony and unity among diverse cultures and communities.
