“The road to freedom was long and arduous,” says Gov Unabia

MISAMIS ORIENTAL – “The road to freedom is long and arduous. They sacrificed their lives so that we may enjoy what we enjoy today.”

This is among the strongest message of Misamis Oriental Governor Peter “Sr. Pedro” M Unabia during the commemoration of the Philippine Independence on June 12, 2024, at the Provincial Capitol Grounds.

He said the Filipinos must always remember that the forefathers shed their blood to achieve lasting freedom for everyone.

Unabia said the patriotism of the Filipino heroes must be emulated and emboldened in everyone’s heart so that everyone will also have the courage to fight for what is right for the country.

“Despite the extraordinary hardships, the patriotism, and invulnerable spirit of the Filipinos lead to our triumph against the shackles of bondage,” the provincial governor pointed out.

Vice Governor Jeremy Jonahmar “Jigjag” G. Pelaez, for his part, said that the Philippine Independence. “Today, we are gathered not only to commemorate a pivotal moment in history but also to reflect on the enduring spirit of our nation and to look forward to a bright and promising future.

Pelaez said independence reminds Filipinos of the valor and sacrifices of their ancestors in order to achieve a genuine freedom for all. “Their courage and determination pave the way for the liberties that everyone enjoys today,” the vice governor said.

This year’s independence day theme was “Kalayaan, Kinabukasan, Kasaysayan.”
