IN today’s (June 20, 2024)138th full council meeting of the Regional Development Council (RDC)-X, it was reported that the tax collection in region 10 in 2023 recorded an increase of 21%, yielding a total collection of P16.7 billion as against P13.8 billion in 2022.
Fifty-eighth percent or 54 of the 93 local government units (LGUs) in region 10 already adopted operational Integrated Business Permit Licensing System (IBPLS), and 73% or 66 LGUs are compliant with the Gawad Kalasag Seal Evaluation. Besides, 100% or all LGUs were awarded with good financial housekeepin with 36% or 35 of these LGUs awarded with the Seal of Good Local Governance 2023.
Data provided by DepEd-10 in today’s RDC-X full council meeting revealed that for the elementary level, the teacher to learners ration is at 1:27 as against the national standard of 1:35 while for the secondary level is at 1:26 as against the national standard at 1:35. Complementing the Dep-Ed’s provision of basic education, it has also strengthened the Indigenous Peoples Education Program (IPEd) and established 140 Alternative Learning System (ALS) program for senior high school learners.
As regards the growth of the region’s economy, region 10 has P8.20 billion total approved investments as compared to the P8.32 billion in 2022. Its industry growth registered at 3.8% as against the 6.6% growth in 2022 . Also in 2023, the services sector recorded 7.8% growth, a bit lower than the 10.1% growth in 2022.
As reported by the Department of Agriculture (DA)-10, region 10’s rice self-sufficiency of 85.21% with 4.74MT yield fell below the national target of 86-88% However, the region’s corn self-sufficiency of 145.27% with 3.92MT yield is way above the national target of 114-120% or 3.85MT.
