CAGAYAN de Oro City first district Rep. Lordan Suan led the turnover November 28 of a two-storey eight-classroom school building in Upper Carmen Elementary School.
The structure has a floor area of 437 square meters complete with a CCTV system, ventilating equipment, water pumping system, fire hose assembly, fire extinguisher and fire alarm system.
The P40-million project is sourced from the 2024 national budget through Suan’s lobbying and implemented by the Cagayan de Oro City’s first engineering district of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).
With the population of Upper Carmen Elementary School of around 500 students, principal Rico Cagape said he is grateful that Suan chose his school to benefit the project.
Carmen is also the most populous barangay in the city.
For 2026, four more schoolbuildings will be constructed elsewhere in the first district under Suan’s lobbying.
