CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY – Hon. Imelda Quibranza-Dimaporo, Chairperson of the Northern Mindanao Regional Development Council (RDC-X) and Provincial Governor of Lanao del Norte, bared the region’s plans and the RDC-X’s accomplishments during the 2024 State of the Region Address cum 1st Semester Northern Mindanao Socioeconomic Media Forum on 20 June 2024, at the Chali Beach Resort & Conference Center in Cugman, this city.
“The Regional Development Council and its partners collectively serve as a bridge – a structure of beams, supports, and foundations that enables the people of Northern Mindanao to reach the desired state of a matatag, maginhawa, at panatag na buhay, or our AmBisyon Natin 2040,” said Governor Dimaporo.
She highlighted several ongoing and pipeline infrastructure and catalytic projects aimed at
steering the region towards the shared vision and the medium-term goal of socioeconomic
transformation. Among these projects is the much-anticipated formal opening of the Panguil Bay Bridge before the end of the year, which will connect the Municipality of Tubod in Lanao del
Norte to the City of Tangub in Misamis Occidental.
Governor Dimaporo also reported that, as of February 2024, Northern Mindanao has the most
infrastructure flagship projects outside of the National Capital Region (NCR). The region boasts
fifteen unique IFPs, with an additional nine interregional IFPs involving the region.
The region is also preparing for the pre-implementation of Phase 3 of the Mindanao Raiway Project, with sections spanning the municipality of Laguindingan, the highly urbanized city of Cagayan de Oro, and the municipality of Vilanueva of Misamis Oriental.
