THE Philippine Health Insurance Corporation Northern Mindanao (PhilHealth NorthMin Region), in partnership with the Capitol University Medical Center, launched the Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) Z Benefit Package and Konsulta programs on August 14 in this city.
Leading the event are PhilHealth Northern Mindanao Regional Vice President Delio A. Aseron II with CUMC President Rosalinda R. Deleste, Hospital Administrator Engr. Jose Ray Sesenio R. Deleste, Medical Director Dr. Natasha B. Emano-Elazgul, and Chief of Clinics Dr. Jose Rhoel C. De Leon.
These initiatives strengthen healthcare access for residents of Cagayan de Oro City and northern Mindanao through accessible CABG surgeries and expanded Konsulta services, covering outpatient and inpatient care, preventive care services, laboratory tests, and essential medicines.
PhilHealth likewise introduced the Yaman ng Kalusugan para Malayo sa Sakit (YAKAP) Program, which extends insurance coverage to consultations, more screenings, diagnostic tests, and medicines, aligning with the Marcos administration’s efforts to make quality healthcare more accessible to every Filipino.
In her welcome message, CUMC Director Dr. Natasha Emano-Elazegui said that the contract signing is more than a ceremonial activity, but a concrete step towards ensuring every Filipino, regardless of financial capacity, has access to timely, quality, life-saving healthcare.
In her message, CUMC President Rosalinda R. Deleste reaffirmed the hospital’s commitment to provide the best quality care and service to its patients, by ensuring its facilities have state-of-the-art equipment and skilled doctors. Through this partnership with PhilHealth, Deleste said, the hospital’s services are made accessible to more members of the community.
Citing CABG surgery as a costly medical procedure for many Filipinos, RVP Aseron said that the alliance with CUMC stands as a ‘beacon of hope’, ensuring more Kagay-anons have better access to and receive the necessary care they need without the burden of financial hardship. Aseron said that by fully covering CABG procedures, PhilHealth eliminates barriers for Filipinos who seek this life-saving treatment.
CUMC consultant for PhilHealth Konsulta Dr. Marco Antonio Cabonce said that the partnership with PhilHealth to offer the CABG Z benefit package is timely as the hospital gears to scale up its service offerings to advance Universal Healthcare (UHC). Also with YAKAP, Cabonce said, related medical procedures and many more healthcare services have become more accessible for more Kagay-anons, reaffirming CUMC’s commitment to UHC, without compromising on sustainability, quality, and affordability.
As an accredited Konsulta service provider, CUMC willl be able to offer accessible outpatient and in-patient services, primary care services (preventive/screening services, required laboratory and diagnostic services, referral to higher-level hospitals), 15 laboratory tests, and 21 medicines.
