PhilHealth 10 launches 13 new benefits

DURING the Kapihan sa Bagong Pilipinas February 11, PhilHealth regional vice president for Northern Mindanao Delio Aseron II announced the following enhanced packages:

1. Hemodialysis: 144 percent increase in coverage amounting to P6,350 for 156 sessions annually.

2. Konsulta + SDG Package: Enhancements to the Konsulta Benefit Package and the inclusion of Outpatient Anti-Tuberculosis or TB DOTS, Malaria, HIV/AIDS (OHAT) and Animal Bites.

3. Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (Severe): 194 percent increase in coverage.

4. COVID-19 Inpatient Benefits: Rate adjustments for adults and children.

5. Kidney Transplantation (Z Benefit Package): 44% to 249% increase in cverage (P865,000 to P2,093,000) for this gold-standard treatment, including pre-transplant, transplant and post-operative care.

6. Ischemic Heart Disease – Acute Myocardial Infarction: Coverage from P21,900 to P523,853.

7. Peritoneal Dialysis (Z Benefit Package): Encourages Peritoneal Dialysis as a first-line treatment for End-Stage Renal Disease, improving quality of life and mobility for CKD5 patients.

8. Cataract Extraction: Expanded benefits amounting to P20,200 to P187,100 per eye from P16,000 per eye

9. Outpatient Emergency Care: Covers urgent medical care (not requiring 24+ hourhospitalization) in hospital ERs.

10. Preventive Oral Health Services: Integrated into the Konsulta Program, including exams, cleaning, fluoride varnish, and sealants/root service protection.

11. Physical Medicine, Rehabilitation, and Assistive Devices: Covers services and devices like wheelchairs, walkers, crutches, and canes.

12. Pediatric Optometric Services: For children aged 0-15 covers assessmnent of eye and vision Prescription glasses (lens and frame) and follow-up

13. Case Rate Adjustments: Following last year’s 30 percent increase for over 9,000 case rates.

“We have also implemented another 50 percent increase to provide even greater financialsupport for common illnesses and diseases. For example:

Eliminating the Single Period of Confinement Policy which provides greater flexibility and more comprehensive coverage for members and their families.

Recognizing the unique challenges solo parents face, we have extended coverage to them and their dependents, as defined by the Foster Care Act of 2012 (RA 10165).

Coverage for foster children as qualified dependents, ensuring crucial healthcare access and alleviating financial burdens on foster families.

Active enforcement of the No Co-Policy for patients in ward or basic accommodations so members fully benefit from their PhilHealth coverage and financial barriers to care are eliminated.”
