PhilHealth-10 engages with youth through reel-making, digital poster contest

By Daniel Clark Cabantan

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) — To engage younger generations with digital tools, the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth)-10 held a reel-making and digital poster-making contest, which culminated in an award ceremony on September 2 at the Limketkai Luxe Hotel in this city.

PhilHealth-10 Vice President Delio Aseron II said there is still a need to disseminate awareness about the updated services of PhilHealth, aligning the event with its theme, ‘Nag 4MKNB?’ to ensure a deeper understanding of universal health care, especially for the event’s participants, the students.

“Your compelling reels and impactful posters played a vital role in raising awareness and addressing important issues on health and the significance of PhilHealth in every Filipino’s life,” he said.

Aseron added that there were 29 reel entries made by Grade 8 students from public schools across Northern Mindanao and 11 digital poster entries created by college students, all in line with the event’s theme.

Meanwhile, in the reel-making contest, Maigo National High School, under the advisorship of Dan Michael Lagat, bested other entries and took home a P15,000 cash prize plus a certificate of recognition.

Casinglot National High School finished in second place, while Kapatagan National High School secured third place.

Dan Michael Lagat, teacher from Maigo National High School, said that the event is a very helpful information drive, especially since there are still students who are not well-informed about the services of PhilHealth.

“These videos will reach a greater audience and also enhance their talent for them to be informed, especially the 4M of PhilHealth,” he said.

In the digital poster-making contest, Terryboy A. Balite from the University of Science and Technology of Southern Philippines (USTP)-Jasaan Campus secured 1st place with a P10,000 cash prize. Jison M. Golosinda from USTP-CDO Campus took second, and Chelder Jia Teneza from Capitol University came in third.

Meanwhile, RVP Aseron stated that this contest aims to educate students about the National Health Insurance Program, prepare them to become advocates, and highlight the significance of being responsible PhilHealth members.

“This will help them gain a deeper understanding alongside their peers, as it is important to emphasize and instill the value of these programs in their perspective at a young age,” he said.

He also emphasized that there will be more upcoming activities, and that this event is one of PhilHealth’s 4M campaigns, aimed at ensuring that every Filipino understands the importance of ‘Magparehistro, Magbayad ng kontribusyon, Mag-update ng record, Mag-claim ng benepisyo’.

These activities were aligned with the National Health Insurance Program and in collaboration with the Department of Education-10 and Commission on Higher Education-10. (DCC/PIA-10)
