THE head of host organization Oro Chamber said that President Marcos himself is expected to be the guest of honor in the upcoming 35th Mindanao Business Conference this August here in Cagayan de Oro City.
Oro Chamber is the Cagayan de Oro Chamber of Commerce and Industry Foundation, Inc., the largest CDO-based organization of local businesses.
During an interview January 13, its president Almarco Brito said that the President of the Philippines has always been the honored guest speaker during past editions of the prestigious island-wide conference.
He expected the 2026 edition to not be the exemption.
“I recalled that during past MinBizCon events that we held here, it was always the President at the time who was the guest of honor and speaker,” Brito said.
In 1994 when Cagayan de Oro became first the host of the Mindanao Business Conference at Pryce Plaza, it was graced by then President Fidel Ramos.
It was then President Gloria Arroyo’s turn in 2003 also at Pryce Plaza; and then President Rodrigo Duterte in 2017 when MinBizCon was held in two venues – Xavier Estates Clubhouse and Phividec Industrial Estates.
Brito and the 15 trustees of Oro Chamber led by chair Irene Floro held its first board meeting of the year that day (January 13) and one of the topics discussed was crafting the invitation for the President.
MinBizCon is the biggest annual gathering of industry leaders and CEOs, policy makers and government officials and local and international investors, together shaping the future of the Mindanao economy.
