In Butuan City, authorities confirmed the arrest of a New People’s Army (NPA) rebel wanted for multiple offenses in Barangay Libertad. Brig. Gen. Kirby John Kraft, the director of the Police Regional Office in the Caraga Region, disclosed that “Gamay,” aged 35 and hailing from Compostela, Davao de Oro, was apprehended on Monday afternoon. Kraft stated that Gamay was implicated in a shooting incident on November 29, 2011, at Sitio Everlasting, Barangay Cuevas, Trento, Agusan del Sur, which resulted in the death of an individual known as alias Larry and inflicted severe injuries upon a certain Rodden.
Gamay, a member of the Guerrilla Front 20 under the Southern Mindanao Regional Committee, and other fellow NPA rebels also set the motorcycle of Rodden on fire.
He has a pending arrest warrant arson, murder and frustrated murder. No bail was recommended. (With a report from Alexander Lopez/PNA)
