Marawi private schools may join F2F classes expansion

MARAWI CITY, Lanao del Sur (PIA)–Private schools here may participate in the possible expansion of face-to-face classes after passing the assessment and evaluation of the Education Department.

“Dadaan pa rin tayo sa proseso, evavalidate pa rin ang school ninyo [we will still go through the process, your school will still be validated] whether you are also compliant with the different guidelines and criteria outlined in the Inter Ministry Memorandum Circular which is anchored on the Joint Memorandum Circular on the safe implementation of the limited face-to-face classes,” said Marawi City Schools Division Superintendent Anna Zenaida Unte-Alonto responding to an appeal of a private school to hold physical classes.

During the simulation exercise for pilot F2F classes in Angoyao Central Elementary School (ES), Farhanah Aba, principal of Jamiatu Muslim Mindanao, requested the City Schools Division to also allow them to hold the in-person classes.

“The regional office will validate the outcome of the one-month piloting of face-to-face and then we will soon have the expansion depende po yan sa region at sa [it will depend on the region and the] provincial IATF and city government,” Alonto further said.

The division superintendent emphasized that the first step a private school should do is to submit a letter of intent to participate in the pilot run of F2F classes addressed to the Bangsamoro government’s education minister Mohagher Iqbal.

She meanwhile assured that the division office will conduct an orientation on the school safety assessment tool for private schools soon.

Pilot F2F classes will resume for one month starting February 14 in Angoyao Central ES, Mapandi ES, and Nanapun ES.

Before being chosen for the implementation, these schools underwent evaluation and passed the school safety assessment tool that includes management schools’ operations, indicators for teaching and learning, well-being and protection, and home-school learning.(APB/PIA Lanao del Sur)
