THE indigent solo parents subsidy payout was conducted October 29 at Barangay 40 covered court, where 557 beneficiaries from District 2 each received ₱7,000.
In a statement, Mayor Rolando Uy said the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD) was tasked to implement the local government’s obligation under Republic Act 11861, also known as the Expanded Solo Parents’ Welfare Act.
“This is the first time in our city that there is a subsidy for solo parents,” he said.
The City Council earlier approved that the CSWD release a one-time subsidy of P7,000 to qualified solo parents.
Councilor Maximo “Jonjon” Rodriguez III, who serves as the chairperson of the committee on social services, attended the event and expressed his gratitude to all the beneficiaries for their patience and understanding, noting that the subsidy came from the previous year’s budget.
In his message, Rodriguez conveyed his appreciation to Uy, Vice Mayor Jocelyn Rodriguez and the 21st City Council for their full support in ensuring the continuation and realization of this program.
He also assured that he will continue to prioritize the welfare of the people, especially those sectors that are in need of assistance and social services.
Joining him in the activity were Uy, Councilors Desiree Dahino and Gigi Go, CSWD department head Anecia Tongson, along with CSWD staff and representatives from the City Finance Department.
The subsidy payout for the first district also consisting of more than 500 beneficiaries, will be conducted October 31 at Barangay 40 gym. JONJON RODRIGUEZ FACEBOOK PAGE/PNA/CIO
