MISAMIS ORIENTAL – The recent Kuyamis Festival that happened in New York City in the United States is not only tourism but also business and project generation, according to Misamis Oriental Liga ng mga Barangay ABC President Robert “Bobet” de Lara.
He said he was very proud being the delegation head of the said Kuyamis Festival presentation in the streets of New York City.
“We are very proud that we are the delegation head of the Kuyamis Festival because we really achieved our purpose in promoting not just tourism but also business and project generation,” de Lara explained.
He said that aside from the Kuyamis presentation of over 80 contingent from both Magsaysay, Gingoog City and Claveria there were also pocket meetings in different venues, wherein, they were able to present the many potentials of the province.
De Lara said they have also attended business forums and presented to Filipino and American businessmen what the province can offer if they are interested in pouring investments in the Misamis Oriental.
In fact, a business group has confirmed that they would establish a hotel in the province. De Lara noted that the province cannot host conventions because of the lack of hotels in Misamis Oriental.
“Soon the province will have our very own hotels because there are groups interested in constructing a hotel in the province. De Lara also said that he met a businessman in Cagayan de Oro at the airport and he was also informed by the said businessman that his group is also planning to construct a 200-room hotel in the province.
NEW YORK BUSINESSMEN
The ABC president also reported to Mindanao Daily News that there are, more or less, 300 businessmen from New York that will come to Misamis Oriental in the coming months to personally see what business they can put up in the province.
“We are very excited to welcome them in July because they can help boost the economic activities of Misamis Oriental. We know very well that if they put businesses here it would mean job generations to a lot of Misamisnons,” he claimed.
PAGLAUM BONDS
De Lara added that in July of this year, Governor Peter “Sr. Pedro” M. Unabia and his economic team will launch “Paglaum Bonds” which aims to invite investors from New York to invest their money in the province.
“There are a lot of Filipino businessmen in New York that are looking for where to invest their money instead of just making it stagnant in the banks with so little interest.
So, with this Paglaum Bonds, we will invite them to invest in the province.
They will not only help put up a lot of projects but their money will also gain a much higher interest under the “Paglaum Bonds,” the ABC president concluded. ###
