MISAMIS ORIENTAL – Governor Peter “Sr. Pedro” M. Unabia, Vice Gov. Jeremy Jonahmar “Jigjag” G. Pelaez and Board members Gerardo “Boboy” Sabal lll, Wayne T. Militante, Dexter Yasay, Marlon Chan Kho has earmarked a total windfall of P1,3 Million for all the provincial athletes who win in the recent staging of Palarong Pampook in Camiguin Province last May 13 – 17, 2024.
The said sporting event dubbed as “Palarong Pampook” was participated in by various schools divisions across Northern Mindanao.
The Province of Misamis Oriental was the overall 1st runner-up of the said event with an equivalent of 78 gold medals in the identified sports that have been conducted namely: Archery, Arnis, Athletics, Badminton, Baseball, Basketball, Billiards, Boxing, Chess, Dancesport, Football, Futsal, Gymnastics, Pencak Silat, Sepak Takraw, Softball, Swimming, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Tennis, Volleyball, Wrestling and Wushu.
During Monday’s 24th flag raising ceremony at the Provincial Capitol Grounds, Edilberto L. Oplenaria, Ed. D., CESO V School Division Superintendent of Misamis Oriental said the province would have been the grand champion, if the competition was categorized by province.
Provincial administrator John Venice Ladaga announced that the provincial winners in the Palarong Pampook will represent the province in the upcoming Palarong Pambansa, which will be held in Cebu City from July 9-17, 2024.
Ladaga is confident the recent showing of the athletes in different sports disciplines they excelled and won, will definitely bring the province some gold medals.
Meanwhile, the Local School Board (LSB) chaired by the Honorable Governor Peter M. Unabia has approved to disburse cash incentives to those athletes, coaches, and trainers who won Gold Medals in their respective event/s with following details:
P10,000.00 – lndividual/ Double Events;
P20,000.00 – Team Events
lndividual Events: 49 Athletes x 10,000.00
Doubles Events: 20 Athletes x 5, 000.0
Team Events: (3 or more athletes in a team): 109 Athletes x 4,500.00
Coaches lndividual Events with 2 or more Gold: 16 Coaches x 10,000.00 = 160, 000.00
Individual Events with 1 Gold and Doubles Events: 6 Coaches x 5,000.00 = 30,000.00
Team Events (3 or more athletes in a team): 9 Coaches x 4,500.00 = 40,500.00
Asst. Coaches: 10 x 4,500.00 = 45,000.00
Trainers: 8 x 4,000.00 = 32,000.00
