Gov Unabia commends eBOSS-compliant Alubijid town

BY GERRY LEE GORIT

ALUBIJID, Misamis Oriental – Governor Peter “Sr. Pedro” M Unabia commended yesterday (July 2) the officials of Alubijid municipality for its efforts in achieving eBOSS compliant town, alongside with the municipalities of Manticao and Laguindingan.

eBOSS stands for electronic Business One-Stop Shop (eBOSS). It was the Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) on Tuesday who named the said three local government units (LGUs) for simplifying how the public and private sector should transact business with the government.

“I commended the leadership of the mayor here in Alubijid. This is very important to fast track the transactions of both the public and the private sector with the government,” the governor said.

Unabia said through the eBOSS way, red tape in government is lessened and corruption is also minimized, if not fully eradicated.

Unabia believed that eBOSS helps efficiently in business permits application and processes because everything is done electronically as compared to manual processes that usually take the business applicants more than a week and some months to finish the business process applications and other transactions.

ARTA Secretary Ernesto Perez recognized the local government units (LGUs) of Manticao, Alubijid, and Laguindingan with certificates of commendation for their adoption of the electronic Business One-Stop Shop (eBOSS). This initiative, part of the government’s efforts to enhance efficiency and reduce bureaucratic red tape, aims to simplify processes for business transactions.

In an interview, Secretary Perez emphasized the goal of reaching 200 LGUs adopting eBOSS this year to expedite client transactions. Implemented in collaboration with the Department of the Interior and Local Government and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), eBOSS integrates various local business licensing procedures into a single digital platform. This system ensures that applications for licenses, permits, clearances, and authorizations are processed more swiftly through an accessible online portal.

Mandated under Republic Act 11032, or the Ease of Doing Business and Efficient Government Service Delivery Act, eBOSS standardizes and improves service delivery across LGUs. Nideliza Fe Nacilla, DICT’s focal person for Northern Mindanao, noted that 54 LGUs in the region are actively implementing eBOSS, while advising others to align any existing systems with ARTA guidelines to maximize efficiency and compliance.
