ISO 45001:2018 Certification. Filinvest’s flagship power project, the FDC Misamis 3×135 MW Baseload Thermal Power Plant in Villanueva, Misamis Oriental, has secured ISO 45001:2018 for Occupational Health and Safety Excellence.
Misamis Oriental, 12 March 2024 – Filinvest subsidiary FDC Misamis Power Corporation (FDC Misamis) has secured ISO 45001:2018 for Occupational Health and Safety Excellence for its 405 MW baseload power plant in Villanueva, Misamis Oriental.
Juan Eugenio L. Roxas, President and CEO of FDC Utilities, Inc., the holding company of Filinvest’s power and water businesses, expressed pride in achieving this milestone, saying, “At Filinvest, the safety and well-being of our employees are paramount. We are proud to have met the rigorous standards required to achieve the ISO 45001:2018 certification, reflecting our unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest occupational health and safety standards across all facets of our operations.”
ISO 45001:2018 is an internationally recognized standard that provides a framework for establishing, implementing, maintaining, and continually improving an occupational health and safety management system (OHSMS). With the certification, FDC Misamis demonstrated its adherence to best practices in OHS management, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for all personnel.
Roxas also emphasized, “This certification is another step in ensuring our operations remain reliable and stable. With our proactive approach to risk management, we guarantee to provide uninterrupted and stable electricity services to all our customers in Visayas and Mindanao.”
FDC Misamis underwent a rigorous assessment of its OHSMS, which included a review of policies, procedures, and documentation and an on-site audit to ensure the systems’ effective implementation. TÜV SÜD, a leading provider of auditing and certification services, issued the certification to FDC Misamis on December 15, 2023.
Maintaining the highest OHSMS has improved FDC Misamis’ safety culture, leading to zero lost time. It has also helped increase employee morale and engagement, as employees feel more valued and supported.
FDC Misamis’ 405 MW baseload power plant is one of the leading energy providers, providing reliable and cost-effective electricity to electric cooperatives in Visayas and Mindanao. It is the Filinvest Group’s flagship power project, which has been operating since 2016 and has significantly contributed to the stability of the Mindanao grid. In addition to FDC Misamis, Filinvest is also developing solar, hydropower, and biomass energy projects.
