MANILA – The Department of Education (DepEd) stated on Tuesday that there is no specific color designated for the alternate uniforms of teachers and non-teaching staff in all public schools across the country.
This announcement follows comments suggesting that the new alternate uniforms resemble “campaign colors” from the 2022 elections.
“Wala pong prescribed colors ng DepEd collared shirt. Any existing DepEd collared may be worn,” DepEd Undersecretary Michael Poa informed reporters via a Viber message.
Poa said other DepEd collared shirts can be worn amid scorching temperatures across the country.
“Kahit ano pong DepEd collared shirt na meron na ang ating mga guro na nagamit sa (Whatever DepEd collared shirts that our teachers have can be used including) Palaro, Brigada Eskwela, Balik Eskwela and other DepEd activities,” he said.
Besides this, the DepEd also allowed teachers and non-teaching personnel to wear any white collared shirt with the DepEd and MATATAG logo.
On Monday, the DepEd released an infographic per Memorandum DM-OUHROD-2024-0662, allowing the use of the said tops alongside appropriate pairs including slacks, jeans, cargo pants, or any other matte black pants.
Leggings, tights, and jogging pants, meanwhile, are prohibited under the Civil Service Commission’s revised dress code prescribed for all government officials and employees in the workplace. (PNA)
