Davis Cup 2025: Qualifiers Deliver Drama and Set the Stage for Bologna

In this 1xBet review, we take a look at the men’s teams that sensationally reached the Top 8.

On September 12–13, the second qualifying round of the 113th Davis Cup took place. Live broadcasts of all 14 national team matches were available for free on the 1xBet platform. The winners of the seven ties secured their places in the Final 8 — the decisive team tennis tournament of the season, scheduled for November 18–23 at the Bologna Fiere exhibition center.

Hungary vs Austria: Everything Decided in the Final Match

On September 12, players from these neighboring countries faced each other for the first time in Davis Cup history. Hungary entered as clear favorites, with odds of 1.24 on an overall victory. The numbers seemed justified: their leaders, Fabian Marozsan and Marton Fucsovics, were ranked 55th and 58th in the ATP rankings.

But both reliable performers of modern tennis lost in three sets to their Austrian rivals. Marozsan fell to Jurij Rodionov (ATP No.157), while Fucsovics was defeated by Lukas Neumayer (No.174).

In doubles, Fabian Marozsan and Zsombor Piros fought hard and edged Alexander Erler and Lucas Miedler in two tie-breaks. In the fourth rubber, Piros battled past Neumayer to level the score. It all came down to a deciding fifth match between Fucsovics and Rodionov — and the Hungarian failed to deliver, losing both sets outright (2–6, 1–6).

USA vs Czech Republic: Experience vs Youth

The Czech Republic currently boasts a very promising generation of singles players. Jiri Lehecka, Jakub Mensik, and Tomas Machac are consistently inside the world’s Top 30, with the oldest just 24 years old. Facing them was a powerful U.S. lineup of Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, Reilly Opelka, Rajeev Ram, and Austin Krajicek. With such names, the Americans were the favorites, at 1.38 odds to win — but that prediction did not materialize.

The tie delivered plenty of twists. Lehecka was brilliant against both Fritz and Tiafoe. The experienced doubles team of Ram and Krajicek prevailed over the younger Machac and Mensik. Fritz added another point for the U.S., outclassing Mensik.

In the decisive fifth match, everything depended on Tiafoe and Mensik. The young Czech dominated: Tiafoe dropped the first set 1–6 and never recovered, losing the second 4–6.

Australia vs Belgium: Bravo, Raphael Collignon!

The storyline here echoed the previous ties: home favorites, high drama, and underdogs stealing the final point. After the first two singles matches, Australia trailed 0–2 but got on the board with a doubles win. Then world No.8 Alex de Minaur stepped up, easily defeating Zizou Bergs to even the series.

But the hero of the tie was 23-year-old Raphael Collignon. He had already impressed against de Minaur in the opening match, and in the decisive rubber he stunned Aleksandar Vukic with a commanding performance (7–6, 6–2, 6–3).

Final 8: Schedule and Format

Joining Austria, the Czech Republic, and Belgium in Bologna are Spain, France, Argentina, and Germany. Host nation Italy also enters directly — the Italians have claimed the last two Davis Cup titles.

On the 1xBet Indonesia platform, the quarterfinal pairings are as follows:

  • France vs Belgium – November 18
  • Italy vs Austria – November 19
  • Spain vs Czech Republic – November 20
  • Argentina vs Germany – November 20

The winners of the first two ties meet in the semifinals on November 21, while the winners of the other two play on November 22. The Davis Cup 2025 final will take place on November 23.
