In Laoag City, agrarian reform beneficiaries (ARBs) in the remote village of Nagsurot, Burgos, Ilocos Norte, will soon benefit from a multi-functional facility worth PHP1.5 million. Intended to enhance productivity in high-value crop production throughout the year, Provincial Agrarian Reform Program Officer Vic Ines informed the Philippine News Agency on Thursday that the greenhouse’s official turnover is anticipated in the second quarter of this year. This initiative aims to support ARBs in overcoming the challenges posed by climate change.
We have allotted PHP1.5 million for the project and the amount includes the conduct of capability training and other components of the project,” he said.
Ines said the fund has been downloaded to the local government unit of Burgos for implementation.
He led a team of Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) representatives for the final inspection of the project in Barangay Nagsurot on Wednesday.
In line with the food security program of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., DAR has been introducing modern farm technologies and providing modern farm equipment to ARBs.
With the greenhouse facility, Ines said ARBs can grow more crops year-round that are protected from adverse weather conditions.
Seedling trays, seeds, potting media and seedling tables are also added to the facility. (PNA)
