Convict in Vhong detention case turned over to BuCor

MANILA – Prison officials on Friday reported that the last of four convicts sentenced for the illegal detention of actor Vhong Navarro has been turned over to the Bureau of Correction (BuCor) for incarceration.

In a statement, the BuCor said Ferdinand Guerrero was turned over by the National Bureau of Investigation after his surrender this week.

Guerrero, together with businessman Cedric Lee, mixed martial arts practitioner Simeon Raz, and model Deniece Cornejo were convicted by the Taguig Regional Trial Court Branch 153 on May 2 for illegal detention for ransom and meted life imprisonment.

BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. said that just like Lee and Raz, Guerrero was received at the Reception and Diagnostic Center of the New Bilibid Prison for an initial interview and checkup.

He will be placed at Quarantine Cell for five days with no visiting privileges, followed by a diagnostic procedure which includes a medical, sociological, psychological, educational, and classification process for 55 days before he is transferred to a correction facility.

Guerrero was accompanied by his lawyers led by Atty. Alex Avisado. (PNA)
