In Butuan City, law enforcement apprehended a high-value individual (HVI) and confiscated PHP1.7 million worth of shabu during an anti-illegal drugs operation in Barangay Doongan on Wednesday.
Brig. Gen. Kirby John Kraft, the director of the Police Regional Office in the Caraga Region (PRO-13), revealed in a statement on Thursday that the apprehended HVI, identified only as “Bintong,” aged 33 and hailing from Nasipit, Agusan del Norte, had surfaced in previous drug-related arrests. Consequently, intensified surveillance efforts led to his apprehension. The operation was jointly conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Butuan City police.
Seized from the suspect were 255 grams of shabu, drug paraphernalia, PHP15,000 marked money, and a motorcycle.
The suspect, who is now in police custody, will be charged with violation of Republic Act No. 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
Bintong is the second HVI arrested by PRO-13 operatives in the region this month.
On April 6, authorities arrested “Natoy,” 41, during a raid in Purok 4, Barangay 10, Buenavista, Agusan del Norte, that resulted in the confiscation of PHP156,400 worth of shabu. (PNA)
