COTABATO CITY—BARMM Key officials from various ministries, offices, and agencies underwent orientation on budget execution guidelines (BEGs) spearheaded by the Ministry of Finance, and Budget and Management (MFBM) on Jan. 12 in this city.
The crafted BEGs contain rules and procedures on the proper release, implementation, and monitoring of the public’s financial resources.
MFBM Deputy Minister Amilbahar Amilasan, Jr. stressed that all ministries and offices are expected to strengthen the implementation of their services during the 4th year of the BARMM transition period.
“As we are on the precipice of momentum building, our actions are bound by the principles of moral governance,” the Deputy Minister said.
“We see improvements in strengthening the rule of law, as well as an honest and effective delivery of public services,” he shared.
Accordingly, this year, the Government of the Day aims to increase more accomplishments as well as broaden its efforts to serve the marginalized sector in pursuit of genuine and meaningful autonomy.
“This activity is one of the many interventions of MFBM that helps achieve these goals by capacitating the human capital on public and financial management,” Amilasan said.
Meanwhile, Bangsamoro Treasurer Naila Dimaraw was positive about the efforts lined up for this year.
“Rest assured that the MFBM through the Bangsamoro Treasury Office will continue to work together in pursuing genuine and meaningful autonomy,” Dimaraw stated.
The implementation of the 2023 General Appropriations Act of the Bangsamoro (GAAB) is directed by the BEGs issued by the MFBM. Before this, all concerned offices were required to submit Budget Execution Documents (BEDs) to outline their plans and performance targets. (Kasan Usop, Jr./BIO with reports from MFBM)
