ARTA backs digital governance push through eGovPH, eLGU integration

By Shaun Y. Uy

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) — The Anti-Red Tape Authority (ARTA) expressed support for the integration of the e-Government Philippines (eGovPH) app and the eLocal Government Unit (eLGU) system in Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro, highlighting its role in advancing streamlined government service delivery.

ARTA Secretary Ernesto Perez emphasized the agency’s commitment to digital transformation, citing President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr.’s leadership as a key driver in the shift toward e-governance.

“ARTA is developing its electronic complaints management system, which in the future will also be linked to the eGov PH. It offers convenience to each and every one of us at the comfort of the use of our cellular phone,” Perez said.

He pointed to the app’s function as a centralized access point for government agencies, citizens’ charters, and public concerns, aligning with ARTA’s mandate to reduce red tape and improve bureaucratic efficiency.

eGovPH and eLGU are initiatives of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to consolidate national and local services into a single mobile platform. The eGovPH simplifies transactions between the government and citizens. It also allows users to access and utilize their digital National ID, a valid proof of identification. The eLGU is a system that lets people avail of a wide range of local government services, including business permit and licensing, local tax processing, local civil registration, real property tax, barangay clearance, and community tax certificates, among others.

DICT Regional Director Sittie Rahma V. Alawi reported that 25 out of 26 LGUs in Misamis Oriental have already adopted the eLGU system. In Cagayan de Oro, the city government and its social welfare and development websites have been integrated into the eGovPH app.

“In Misamis Oriental, an impressive 25 out of 26 local government units have already adopted the eLGU system. Cagayan de Oro has taken an equally significant stride by seamlessly integrating its official city government and social welfare and development websites into the eGovPH app. This integration dramatically improves public service accessibility and efficiency. Both Misamis Oriental and Cagayan de Oro City are not just participating in digital transformation, they are leading it,” Alawi said.
