Held annually in June, coinciding with the founding anniversary of the province, the festival is a week-long celebration filled with a myriad of activities that reflect the province’s cultural diversity, historical significance, and natural beauty.

The term “Naliyagan” is derived from the native Manobo language, meaning “the chosen one” or “the best.” This festival indeed lives up to its name, bringing together the best of Agusan del Sur’s traditions, crafts, and talents. It serves as a platform for the indigenous communities, particularly the Manobo, Higaonon, and other ethnic groups, to share their rich cultural practices with a broader audience. The festival aims to promote cultural awareness and appreciation while fostering unity among the diverse populations within the province.
