The Eastern Mindanao Command’s (EastMinCom) Naval Forces Eastern Mindanao (NFEM) formally welcomed the arrival of three newly commissioned Philippine Navy vessels—the Barko ng Republika ng Pilipinas (BRP) Miguel Malvar (FFG-06), BRP Tomas Campo (PG-908), and BRP Albert Majini (PG-909)—during a ceremonial event at Macabalan Wharf, Cagayan de Oro City, on September 16.
The arrival ceremony was held as part of the Philippine Navy’s Operational Readiness and Capability Test (ORACT) and the “Show the Flag Mission,” which are designed to evaluate naval operational proficiency while strengthening partnerships with local communities and stakeholders within Eastern Mindanao’s area of responsibility.
This initiative highlights the Navy’s commitment to increasing public awareness of its modern surface assets and their crucial role in safeguarding the nation’s maritime interests. It also provided local government officials, partner agencies, and other stakeholders the opportunity to board the vessels and witness firsthand the advanced capabilities of the Navy’s newest acquisitions.
The FFG-06 is a guided missile frigate equipped with advanced systems designed for multi-role naval operations. Accompanying her are the PG-908 and PG-909, both Acero-class Fast Attack Interdiction Crafts armed with Spike-ER missiles and Typhoon weapon systems. Notably, BRP Albert Majini was built locally at the Philippine Navy Shipyard in Cavite, representing a significant step toward defense self-sufficiency. EASTERN MINDANAO COMMAND
