CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, May 29 — To proactively address the need for improved jail facilities in Northern Mindanao, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-10 and the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-10 are strengthening collaboration through a strategic mapping initiative to guide the establishment of district jails across the region.

The initiative was discussed during the courtesy visit of BJMP-10, led by Regional Director JCSupt. Felixberto S. Jagorin, MDR, to DILG-10 Regional Director Bruce A. Colao, CESO V.

During the meeting, RD Colao suggested conducting a comprehensive regional mapping to determine priority areas for the proposed establishment of district jails.

The proposed mapping activity aims to identify ideal locations based on population growth, detention needs, crime incidence, and proximity to courts and other critical facilities, ensuring a more data-driven and responsive approach to jail development.

RD Colao also reaffirmed his commitment to closely coordinate with BJMP-10, especially in addressing concerns related to the Bureau, and assured continued support from the DILG in facilitating engagement with local government units (LGUs) when necessary.

Both agencies recognized the importance of strong inter-agency coordination and local government support in facilitating land acquisition, infrastructure development, and policy alignment for the proposed facilities.
