Despite the challenges after assuming office in 2025, Governor Juliette Uy assures the people of Misamis Oriental that the provincial government will be relentless in pursuing development for the province especially in the areas of agriculture, health, infrastructure, tourism and other sectors.
In her Governor’s Report, during the 96th founding anniversary celebration of Misamis Oriental, January 7, Uy said that sound fiscal management, a vibrant workforce, and people-centered governance will help the province thrive.
The report coincided with the opening of the 13th Kuyamis Festival with a ceremonial dance led by Uy, who held a kuyamis fruit during opening rites, January 7, 2026.
The festival was institutionalized through Republic Act No. 12275, signed in 2025, which declares the Kuyamis Festival as the official festival of the province.
The measure was authored by 2nd District Representative Yevgeny Vincente Beja Emano, now serving as deputy speaker of the House of Representatives.
Misamis Oriental is celebrating its 96th founding anniversary alongside the 13th Kuyamis Festival from January 5 to 10, 2026.
The weeklong celebration highlights the province’s history, culture and shared traditions through various activities, including the Kuyamis Festival Booth Competition, Miss Kuyamis 2026, street dancing competitions and other events showcasing local talents.
