BARANGAY chairmen Julito Ogsimer of Lapasan, Romeo Bacarro of Tablon, former Macasandig kagawad Richard Nixon Baban and 32 other barangay leaders were formally endorsed January 31 by the Centrist Democratic Party (CDP) in Cagayan de Oro City.
They were all introduced before new members of CDP who were newly inducted in the ceremony held at Chali Beach Resort.
The Centrist Democratic Party of the Philippines (CDP) is a Christian democratic party in the Philippines.

Created in 2010, it is headed by Cagayan de Oro City second district Rep. Rufus Rodriguez.
The party aims to “institutionalize an alternative to patronage-oriented political parties”.

CDP regularly conducts capacity-building training, political fora and basic orientation seminars to propagate centrism as a political ideology.
The party organizing activities are being conducted even in between elections.

The next polls cycle for the barangay level will be held this November.
Section 4 of Batas Pambansa Blg. 222 (the Barangay Election Act of 1982) states that barangay elections must be non-partisan.
That means barangay candidates cannot represent or be represented as candidates of a political party or other organized group.
