THE Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-10 is hosting the 2025 Regional Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Convention and Data Festival for Northern Mindanao on September 17–18, 2025, at Chali Beach Resort in Cagayan de Oro City.
With the theme, “Ready, Stat, Go! Building Agile, Resilient, and Future-Ready Filipino Communities through Data-Driven Systems,” the event emphasizes the importance of CBMS in generating localized data to support evidence-based policymaking.
It also aims to enhance statistical literacy and brings together local government units, national agencies, and academic institutions to exchange ideas on how data can inform planning, governance, and community development.
PSA-10 Regional Director Janith C. Aves highlighted the PSA’s mandate as the central statistical authority of the Philippine government, responsible for statistics, civil registration, and identification systems under key laws such as RA 10625, RA 11055, and RA 11315.
She emphasized that the PSA is more than just about numbers—it is a catalyst for change, a partner in local development, and a promoter of data-driven governance.
Aves acknowledged the challenges in fully harnessing CBMS data but affirmed that the 2025 Regional CBMS Convention and Data Festival aims to strengthen the system’s role in sustainable, inclusive development.
The event calls for preparedness, informed action, and proactive governance through multi-sectoral collaboration and enhanced data use to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the grassroots level. PIA
