Manila, Philippines – The Philippines marked a historic milestone in its digitalization journey with the successful launch of the AGILA satellite. Orbits Satellite Corp., led by President Atty. Augusto Baculio, in partnership with Astranis, spearheaded this groundbreaking initiative.

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” R. Marcos Jr. christened the satellite during a ceremonial signing in California last December 2023, underscoring the nation’s commitment to digital advancement.
The AGILA satellite lifted off aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida, and will reach its geostationary orbit 35,786 kilometers above Earth by April. Data transmission is expected to commence by May 2025.
Atty. Baculio emphasized, “AGILA represents a significant leap forward in bridging the digital divide, empowering remote communities through seamless connectivity.” Orbits Satellite Corp. aims to provide internet access to unserved and underserved areas, fueling economic growth, education and innovation.
