THE city government of Cagayan de Oro has formalized a significant partnership with theAsian Business Cabletow Cooperative Academy (ABCCA) to launch the Relevant Industry Skills for Employment (RISE) Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Initiative, with a flagship focus on the RISE artificial intelligence program.
The signing of the memorandum of agreement (MOA) between the city government and ABCCA marks a major advancement in the city’s efforts to prepare residents for high-demand careers intech and other emerging sectors.
The RISE TVET initiative is strategically designed to address employment gaps and support economic growth by offering skils-based training to local residents not in education, employment or training.
The city government will lead program administration, fund training andassessment costs for eligible NEET participants, and drive outreach efforts to mnaximize community involvement.
ABCCA, having established the first TESDA-certified facility for generative Al training, will serve as the primary training institution for RISE AI and Drone Technology courses, equipping participants with industry-alignedskills tailored to meet both local and internationalworkforce needs.
The RISE TVET and RISE AI programs are stronglysupported by IT industry partner Thor Turrecha ofMeldcx and Skunk Works, who brings valuable industry insights and expertise to enhance the program’s relevance and impact.
This collaboration underscores a shared commitment to developing a skilled workforce that can thrive in high-tech and Al-driven industries, ensuring that participants gain access to competitive employment opportunities and sustainable careers.
By delivering technical training in AI, drone technology and other high-demand fields, the RISE TVET initiative aims to foster economic development, boost employability and contribute to inclusive growth within the community.
The program is now open for applications for qualified NEET residents, with the first RISE AI and drone technology training sessions expected to commence immediately.
